Casual dining replaces Arlington Hts. French restaurant

Supecuts, coffee shop, Mexican grill to replace Le Titi

For 40 years there was just one Le Titi De Paris, the acclaimed French restaurant that closed its doors in Arlington Heights last week.

Before the end of the year, the location on Dundee Road that the restaurant occupied for the last 25 years will be home to the less exclusive Caribou Coffee, Qdoba Mexican Grill and a Supercuts hair salon.

Shorewood Development Group of Buffalo Grove will tear down the former restaurant and construct a new building for the three tenants on the site at 1015 W. Dundee Road, east of Kennicott Avenue.

The Arlington Heights Village Board on Monday approved the project, which includes a drive-through for the Caribou.

Village President Arlene Mulder said the board was pleased to see redevelopment.

“It's a good sign for the economy; exciting things happening,” she said.

Restaurant hours will be 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., said Louis Schriber III of Shorewood, who expects the businesses to open in late November.

Roaring Fork Restaurant Group already operates a Qdoba in Vernon Hills, said Chief Operating Officer Ron Stokes, and the company's 34 other restaurants are in Wisconsin.

This is a good reuse of the site and a good addition to the Dundee Road corridor, said Charles Witherington-Perkins, Arlington Heights' director of Planning & Community Development.

The project was approved unanimously, with trustees asking questions mainly about parking.

Trustee Bert Rosenberg mentioned there will be “coffee wars” because there are several spots nearby that specialize in the drink, but Mulder said each brand has its loyal fans.
