Three of the Kane County hits came in the second when they loaded the bags on a string of singles. Kenny Swab was unable to come through though as he bounced into a 4-6-3, inning-ending double play.

Cedar Rapids grabbed the lead in the second against Andy Ferguson (0-1). Zach Wright singled with two outs and came around to score on a base hit by Kevin Moesquit. Two more unearned runs scored off Ferguson as he lasted 5 innings.
