The Schaumburg Boomers wasted no time scoring in their 9-1 win at Joliet on Wednesday, slugging 12 hits and setting a franchise record for runs scored en route to taking the series.
The Boomers quickly erased memories of an 8-0 shutout loss the previous night, striking for 2 quick runs in the top of the first before an out was recorded.
Gerard Hall led off with a single, Nick Kuroczko followed with a walk, and Frank Pfister handed the Boomers the lead with a double down the left field line. Jereme Milons walked to load the bases and Chad Mozingo coaxed a walk to force home a run and the rout was on.
Robbie Penny was the beneficiary of the run support, working 7 innings and allowing just 1 run on 6 hits. Jason Braun and Adam Tollefson pitched perfect eighth and ninth innings to preserve the win.
