Glen Ellyn Historical Society Welcomes New Executive Director

The Glen Ellyn Historical Society is pleased to announce the appointment of Jan Shupert-Arick to the post of executive director. Shupert-Arick was chosen from a field of 35 applicants after a lengthy evaluation process. She brings to this position an extensive background in museum management, including 13 years in museum education and program development at the Northern Indiana Center for History in South Bend and the Lincoln Museum in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She has served as the President of the National Lincoln Highway Association and the Indiana Lincoln Highway Association. She has experience on the boards of the National Automobile and Truck Museum of the U.S. in Auburn, Indiana, and has served on the Regional Advisory Council of Indiana Landmarks. Her experience also includes education, preservation, fund raising, volunteer management, marketing and membership development.

Shupert-Arick has a BA from Indiana University and is certified to teach at the high school level in the areas of U.S. History and Psychology. She has published several books and numerous articles on historical topics. Her books include two published by Arcadia Press, a well-known publisher of books on local and regional history. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening and is an Advanced Master Gardener.
