Man charged with video taping young girl in Wheeling

A Hanover Park man is facing a felony charge alleging he used a handheld camera to shoot video under the dress of a 13-year-old female shopper at a Wheeling store last month.

Wheeling police arrested Dana Gould, 60, Monday on one count of unauthorized video recording stemming from the May 17 incident at the store in the 1400 block of Lake-Cook Road.

Police said the girl's mother saw a man that day placing something under her daughter's dress and brought it to the attention of store security. Employees called police after reviewing store security footage, but the man had left by the time officers arrived, Deputy Chief John Teevans said.

The man returned to the store Monday, Teevans said, and was recognized by an employee, who contacted police.

During Gould's arrest, police recovered a video recorder and found numerous images on the device, Teevans said. Wheeling police are investigating and working with other police departments to find out more about those images, he said.

Gould later admitted placing a digital camera with the ability to record video under the dress of the 13-year-old victim, police said.

The charge against Gould is a Class 3 felony punishable by a maximum two to five years in prison. His bond was set at $5,000 during a court appearance Wednesday, and he is due back in court June 28.
