Naperville chamber selects interim leader

The Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce has selected one of its own to lead the organization on an interim basis.

Tami Andrew, vice president of operations and member services since 2009, will take over the daily operations of the chamber and report to the board of directors. Chairman Shane Beard made the announcement Monday in an email to members.

“Tami has been a key member of the chamber leadership team during the last three years and has played an integral role in identifying and developing our award winning staff,” Beard wrote. “As we all know, it takes a great team to be an award-winning business and it takes a great staff and active membership to have a 5-Star chamber of commerce.”

The announcement comes less than two weeks after the chamber cut ties with former President and CEO John Schmitt, who led the organization also since 2009.

The chamber is forming a search committee to find Schmidt’s long-term successor.
