Leyden hangs on against Trinity

Jen Hall's base hit in the bottom of the eighth inning scored April Markowski with the winning run as pitcher Morgan Maize and No. 2-seeded Leyden edged No. 10 Trinity 7-6 in the championship game of the Morton regional.

No. 2 seed Leyden (28-7) advances to Thursday's 4:30 p.m. semifinal of the Trinity sectional to face No. 5 Lane Tech, which defeated No. 3 Fenwick 4-2 Saturday.

Coach Kurt Schuett's Eagles defeated Chicago Public League champion Lane Tech 3-1 on May 15.
