Wheeling Memorial Day parade to close Route 83 on Monday

A portion of Route 83 through Wheeling will be closed for about an hour Monday morning for the village’s annual Memorial Day parade.

The parade will start at Sam’s Club, 1055 McHenry Road, and will travel southeast on McHenry Road to Wheeling AMVETS Post 66, 700 McHenry Road. McHenry Road (Route 83) will be closed from Aptakisic Road to Lexington Drive from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Residents of the Cedar Run, Brookvale, Fairwayview and Pine Hill subdivisions or complexes will be unable to enter or exit during that hour. Traffic on McHenry Road from the north will be rerouted to go either southbound on Buffalo Grove Road or eastbound on Lake Cook Road. Traffic on McHenry Road from the south will be rerouted north on Lexington Drive to Lake Cook Road.
