Semi rolls over exiting tollway near Libertyville

A truck driver was injured when a semitrailer rolled over as he was pulling onto Buckley Road from the Tri-State Tollway Tuesday afternoon, according to police.

Tire marks at the scene indicated the driver caught the guard rail, which caused the vehicle to flip at about 3 p.m., said Lake County sheriff’s Sgt. Karen Kates.

It took Libertyville fire crews about 10 minutes to extricate the man from the vehicle, but he was conscious throughout the process, said Fire Chief Rich Carani.

The driver was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in an unknown condition, officials said.

An eastbound lane of Buckley Road remained shut down until about 6 p.m. as crews investigated the crash and worked to right the vehicle, which had about 30,000 pounds of scrap metal inside, Kates said.
