Motorcyclist injured in hit-and-run crash in Aurora

Aurora police are searching for witnesses to a Friday hit-and-run accident that seriously injured a 23-year-old Aurora man.

The man was driving a 1990 Honda GT647 motorcycle northbound on Hill Avenue at 12:56 p.m. when the driver of a white Chevrolet Traverse Cross-Over, heading east on Benton Street, pulled out in front of the motorcycle. said police spokesman Dan Ferrelli.

The motorcyclist hit the Traverse on the rear passenger side before the Traverse continued eastbound, away from the crash, Ferrelli said.

Two other motorcyclists were traveling behind the hit-and-run victim, and also left the scene, Ferrelli said. Police are still trying to determine if those motorcyclists were riding with the man before the accident, he added.

The victim, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken to Rush Copley Medical Center for treatment of serious head injuries, Ferrelli said.

Anyone who may have information is asked to call Aurora police traffic investigators at (630) 256-5330.
