Women's issues certainly have been front and center in this presidential campaign. First was the birth control firestorm, and now a Democratic pundit has ignited a debate by saying that Ann Romney, wife of GOP presidential front-runner Mitt Romney, "never worked a day in her life."

Mrs. Romney responded via Twitter that she chose to stay at home to raise her five sons and "believe me, it was hard work."

My sister-in-law Heather has this quote posted on her Facebook profile: All moms are working moms and all moms are full-time moms.

I'm sure my mother, who cared for us at home full time during our preschool years but then returned to teaching, would agree.

What do you think? Did your mom stay at home when you were a kid? Or did she combine parenthood with another job? What's best for children? Could your family get by on one income?
