According to a Census Bureau estimate, there were 5 million stay-at-home moms in the U.S. in 2010.
Women's issues certainly have been front and center in this presidential campaign. First was the birth control firestorm, and now a Democratic pundit has ignited a debate by saying that Ann Romney, wife of GOP presidential front-runner Mitt Romney, "never worked a day in her life."
Mrs. Romney responded via Twitter that she chose to stay at home to raise her five sons and "believe me, it was hard work."
My sister-in-law Heather has this quote posted on her Facebook profile: All moms are working moms and all moms are full-time moms.
I'm sure my mother, who cared for us at home full time during our preschool years but then returned to teaching, would agree.
