Protesters arrested after occupying Chicago clinic

Almost two dozen people have been arrested after barricading themselves inside a Chicago mental health clinic to protest plans to close it.

The Chicago Tribune reports that (http://trib.in/ICi1cY ) at about 1 a.m. Friday police cut through chains that protesters had used to lock themselves into the Woodlawn Mental health Clinic and began arresting people

A police spokesman says 11 were released without charges and charges are pending against the rest.

The South Side clinic is one of six that Mayor Rahm Emanuel has proposed closing.

The occupation began Thursday evening and organizers say it included facility clients and other “allies” of the movement.

The say 200 protesters were outside the building at the height of the protest.
