Aspen Drive Library to hold book sale

The Friends of the Cook Memorial Public Library District will hold a book sale April 13-15 at the Aspen Drive Library, 701 N. Aspen Drive, Vernon Hills.

The sale begins April 13, with a preview sale that will run from 6 to 9 p.m. for members of the Friends group. Nonmembers can join at the door for $5.

The sale will continue from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 14. The next day, the sale will run from 1 to 4 p.m., and a reduced bag sale will be offered.

Thousands of books will be for sale at affordable prices.

More than half of the books being sold are community donated books, with the remainder having been weeded from the library's collection of older or less popular books.

All proceeds will go toward the Friends of the Library.

“With the generosity of book donors and the efforts of the Friends members and volunteers, our plan is to bring back regular book sales to our communities,” said Darcy Dawson, leader of the Friends book sale committee.

Donations of books in good condition are accepted year-round at the Cook Park Library in Libertyville and the Aspen Drive Library.

The Friends of the Cook Memorial Public Library District is a volunteer, nonprofit organization of people in the community who believe that a dynamic, exciting library is crucial to the education, well-being and success of the community and its residents.
