White Sox, Indians postponed by rain, cold weather

CLEVELAND — The White Sox and Cleveland Indians have been postponed by rain and cold weather.

The middle game of the three-game series was called about two hours before the first pitch. There was no immediate word on a makeup date, but Indians manager Manny Acta indicated it might be rescheduled for mid-May. With temperatures in the 30s and plummeting and more rain in the forecast, Acta said it “was not going to be baseball, it was going to be survival. It was going to be harsh out there.”

Acta said Justin Masterson will start Wednesday’s series finale and White Sox manager Robin Ventura said John Danks will start for Chicago.

The Indians are skipping starter Jeanmar Gomez, while White Sox starter Philip Humber will miss his turn.
