Those looking for a new home in a well-established community often find themselves searching, but not finding. Fortunately, such an opportunity is available in an area of Rolling Meadows that has a Palatine mailing address.

Newport Homes of Palatine has a lovely lot available on a 12-home cul-de-sac where all of the houses were built in the past few years. Most belong to young, growing families. Newport owner Mike Schall is ready and willing to construct this home, complete with any custom changes the purchaser wants.

The home will feature an English basement and a deck off the kitchen, as well as a three-car garage and a second-floor laundry room, large office or library. The master suite in this model features 10-foot ceilings, a large custom shower and whirlpool tub.

Other special features include crown molding, hardwood floors and 9-foot ceilings on the main level. There will also be 9-foot ceilings on the lower level so if you choose to finish the basement, you will have a standard ceiling height.

Buyers will have their choice of cherry or maple cabinets, granite countertops, stainless appliances and many other custom options. Schall also offers the following details about this home:

What is the hidden gem in this home?

"It is very dramatic. It has a very open floor plan that creates a synergy between the spaces. For instance, the kitchen is open to the two-story family room, which has very dramatic windows and there are also French doors leading into the living room that can be opened when entertaining. It also features 9-foot ceilings on the first floor."

What would your perfect buyer look like?

"Most of my buyers on this cul-de-sac are young families with children, moving out of the city. They see this as the perfect little cul-de-sac."

What surprises you most about this home?

"Everyone who sees this model is surprised how big it is inside. It is over 3,500 square feet but it feels even bigger than that when you step in the door."

What is the coolest thing about living in this neighborhood?

"It is all about location. This neighborhood is close to everything. It is only a couple of minutes from Woodfield Mall. It is only a mile from two different train stations and it is in one of the top school districts in the state. And since this is a cul-de-sac, there is no through traffic for a family to worry about."

What is one adjective you would use to describe this home?

"Dramatic."

What about the yard?

"The finished lot comes fully sodded with trees in the parkway. The grade will drop off gently in the back so that it will allow an English basement with windows that makes the lower-level space, when finished, feel like a regular part of the house. This particular lot is also adjacent to the cul-de-sac's water detention area so that is a bonus. There won't be another house right next to this home."
