Bandits bring back NPF veteran Galindo

Veteran utility player Vicky Galindo is returning to the Chicago Bandits for the 2012 National Pro Fastpitch season.

“Vicky is a key member of the Bandits,” said general manager Aaron M. Moore. “She has the ability to play several positions, both infield and outfield, and she can handle the bat.

“Vicky also brings a veteran presence and leadership quality that will be very important on this year’s team.”

Named to the 2005 All-NPF team following her rookie season, Galindo saw limited action with the Bandits over the next several years due to her commitment to the U.S. National Team. As a member of Team USA, she won a silver medal at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China.

In 2011, she spent the entire season with the Bandits was a key player in the championship series, coming off the bench to go 4-for-5 with two runs in helping the Bandits clinch their second NPF Championship.

“Rosemont is my home away from home and the Bandits are my second family,” said Galindo. “Coming back as a veteran to teach the new rookies the ropes is an honor. It hardly feels like eight seasons, but I’m excited to continue my career as a member of the Bandits.”

The Bandits kick off the 2012 season on June 2, with Opening Day at The Ballpark at Rosemont on June 7.
