Michael Carbone takes District 16 in Lake County

Michael Carbone defeated Rene Hernandez Jr. in Tuesday's Republican primary for the Lake County Board District 16 seat serving Round Lake and Round Lake Beach.

With all 14 precincts reporting, unofficial results show Corbone received 72 percent of the vote with 648 votes compared to Hernandez who earned 252 votes. Both men live in Round Lake. Democratic incumbent Terry Wilke of Round Lake Beach, who was unopposed in Tuesday's primary for District 16, will face Hernandez in the November general election.

Hernandez, a sales representative, is a former trustee on the Round Lake Area Public Library board. Carbone, a real-estate broker and tax-abatement specialist, serves on Grayslake Elementary District 46's board.
