Sykes helps Green Bay dust Illinois-Chicago 71-63

Keifer Sykes scored 27 points and Alec Brown had a double-double to lead Green Bay past Illinois-Chicago 71-63 on Saturday.

Brown scored 12 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for the Phoenix (15-14, 10-9 Horizon League), who closed out the regular season on a five-game winning streak. Greg Mays added 13 points, and Sykes had six assists.

Hayden Humes hit three 3-pointers and led the Flames (8-21, 3-15) with 13 points and nine rebounds. Paris Carter scored 10 points, and Matt Bush scored nine points on three 3-pointers.

The Flames, who lost their third in a row, will be the ninth seed in the Horizon League tournament.

Green Bay outshot Illinois-Chicago 45 percent (24 of 53) to 37 percent (22 of 60) and outrebounded the Flames 42-33.

The Phoenix swept the season series, having won 71-68 on Dec. 1 in Green Bay.
