Milwaukee beats Loyola 78-69

Tony Meier scored 26 points to lead Milwaukee to a 78-69 victory over Loyola of Chicago on Saturday.

Paris Gulley had 19 points — going 5 for 7 from 3-point range — and James Haarsma scored 14 for the Panthers (19-12, 11-7), who have won four in a row and will host Illinois-Chicago in the first round of the Horizon League tournament on Tuesday.

Both teams shot better than 50 percent on Saturday. Milwaukee made 59 percent of its shots while Loyola hit on 54 percent.

Ben Averkamp had 16 points for Loyola before fouling out. Jordan Hicks scored 13 and Denzel Brito had 10 points for the Ramblers (7-22, 1-17), who finished last in the 10-team Horizon League. Loyola plays at Detroit in tournament play on Tuesday.
