Welcome for Hawthorn superintendent:
Residents of Hawthorn Elementary District 73 are invited to an informal reception from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27, to welcome Nick Brown, who will take over as the new superintendent beginning July 1. The reception will be at the Hawthorn District Office, 841 West End Court, Vernon Hills. Brown was recently selected from 67 applicants following a five-month search to replace Sue Zook who is retiring after this school year. A school board meeting follows the reception.
