Aurora attorney is named Illinois veteran of the month

CHICAGO — An Aurora man and decorated Army veteran who became an attorney and community volunteer has been named February's veteran of the month in Illinois.
The Illinois Department of Veterans' Affairs is honoring Richard Irvin of Aurora. He is the alderman-at-large for the city of Aurora and is a private practice attorney.
Irvin served during Desert Storm and Desert Shield from 1988 through 1991. He became the first in his family to attend college and law school upon his return.
He serves on the executive board of the Illinois Coalition for Community Services and is a volunteer with Big Brothers and Big Sisters. He's also a life member of Aurora's VFW Post 468.
