Grayslake library celebrating Valentine’s Day

A booster organization for Grayslake Area Public Library will host a romance paperback sale on Thursday, Feb. 9, in an advance celebration of Valentine’s Day.

Friends of the Library will hold the special, self-serve romance paperback book sale in the lobby. The sale, at 100 Library Lane, will continue until no more paperbacks remain.

Hundreds of popular romance authors and titles have been gathered for the sale at bargain-basement prices. The library is open from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays.

Another Valentine’s Day celebration is set for 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12. On that day, it’ll be the third presentation of the library’s winter concert series featuring the duo Ten Strings.

Dubbed “Concert for St. Valentine’s,” there will be six strings on a guitar and four strings on a violin. These 10 strings, along with the blending of acoustic guitar and classical violin, create a unique and beautiful sound.

Ten Strings will aim to reflect on the beauty of winter and to observe Valentine’s Day in the free concert. There also may be some chocolate involved for those who attend.
