If yes, please explain: NOCandidate's Key Issues Key Issue 1 I will work with County State Officials, MCEDC (McHenry County Economic Development Corporation), NFIB (National Federation of Independent Businesses), Municipalities and Commercial Property Owners to look at ways to support existing businesses and to make it more affordable for new businesses. This could be accomplished by working with the state to modernize assessments and the assessment process to encourage the property owners to offer reduced rents. This would make it more affordable thus encouraging new businesses. This would be a win/win situation for all by utilizing vacant buildings which in turn creates job growth.Key Issue 2 Preserve as well as protect our rural areas utilizing fiscal responsibility.I will work with Townships, MCDOT (McHenry County Department of Transportation) and organizations such as ALAW (Alliance for Land, Agriculture and Water) in order to maintain our natural groundwater resources, improve roads and safety, without jeopardizing the rural environment.Key Issue 3 Candidate did not respond.Questions Answers McHenry County has managed the recession without a budgetary crisis like those in other counties. How do you ensure the county continues on that path and that reserves aren't depleted? Are there specific budget areas that need more attention?A budget is not a static document, it changes when priorities change.I will work with the department heads as well as committee members to get the best educated understanding of their duties and their needs so we can work together to improve efficiencies.I will attend the finance and budget meetings bimonthly to gain over all knowledge of the county budget as a whole. This will be an on going process which will enable me to make informed decisions about the needs per department as well as on a county level to ultimately reduce costs.Does the McHenry County Board have a good transportation improvement plan? Please be specific and suggest whether you think anything is missing or should be scrapped.Based on the information I have read in the 2030 plan, there are several ideas I would support, improvements/modifications regarding state roads to decrease congestion in the high traffic areas thus increasing business due to improved access.I would support the addition of Metra Stations in areas to give commuters a choice of using public transportation.Does the county need to address its ethics policies' Why or why not? If so, how?We need to proactively promote good ethical behavior among our peers in the work/political environment.Provide constituents with information that is accurate, objective, understandable as well as cost efficient.Accept Fiscal Responsibility, comply with applicable government laws, rules and regulations.Be honest and ethical in our conduct, including ethical handling of actual and/or apparent conflicts of interest between personal and professional relationships.Assess McHenry County's efforts thus far in terms of groundwater preservation and protection. What needs to be done now and in the future? We need to work with such organizations as ALAW (Alliance for Land, Agriculture and Water) in order to come up with solutions to protect as well as preserve our existing groundwater areas.Assess how the county health department approached the whooping cough outbreak. What should have been done differently?I think the McHenry County Health Department was very proactive in updating as well as educating us on the outbreak.
