A pizza chain with locations throughout the Chicago area served its last meal Sunday in Vernon Hills. Michael Salerno's Pizza & Pasta, 102 Hawthorn Parkway, leaves the space next to Opa! restaurant just north of Route 60 near Lakeview Parkway after about two years. Other Salerno's locations are not expected to be affected. The spot in the heavily traveled area is being considered for a new restaurant proposed by the owners of Flatlander's, a restaurant and brewery, which operated for 16 years in Lincolnshire.
