Glen Crest basketball team wins season, conference championship

Glen Crest Middle School eighth-grade boys basketball team wins DuPage Metro Valley Association Conference with a 14-0 season. The eighth-grade Spartans posted one of the most successful seasons in Glen Crest boys basketball history.

According to the Glen Crest Middle School eighth-grade boys basketball coach Richard Novy, “Undefeated, Unstoppable, 14-0, Division Champs, these titles sum up our great season. For 2012, these athletes are undefeated in the conference!”

Coach Novy described the work ethic of this basketball team. “Our guys worked extremely hard and worked as a team. When one man ran, the rest volunteered to run with him. There was no quit in them and the pressure to win or not to lose never affected them.”

This team was “poised under pressure,” whether it was Jeran Simpson hitting a comeback three, Timmy Marks grabbing a big rebound, Jimmy Ebbole making a steal, Sean Kozlowski coming with a huge block or Kyle Carli hitting a shot or making a key drive, everyone stepped up. The bench was awesome according to Coach Novy.

Joey Cimaglia, Jairus Bush, Michale King, Johnny LaPointe, Daryyl Thomas, Jonathon Walker, Kiran Sandford, Javonis Hawkins, Jacob Gary and Josh Phillips made plays when called upon and did even more than what was expected. The team chant at the end of each game was, “ONE, ONE, ONE,ONE, ONE, ONE!!”
