Wright State pulls away from Loyola 47-41

DAYTON, Ohio — Julius Mays scored 16 points and Wright State used a huge second-half run to overcome a six-point deficit and defeat Loyola (Ill.) 47-41 Friday night, sweeping the season series.

The point total was a season-low in a winning effort for the Raiders (11-12, 6-5 Horizon League), who shot only 33.3 percent (16 of 48) while winning their second straight game.

Wright State, which also won 64-48 on Dec. 29, scored 20 points off 22 Ramblers turnovers while committing only eight miscues.

Loyola (5-16, 0-11) lost its ninth straight game and matched its lowest point total of the season — set in a 59-41 loss at Milwaukee on Dec. 1.

The Ramblers led 20-17 at halftime and 27-21 with 15:27 remaining, but did not score again for 9:39 as the Raiders went on a 15-0 spree.

Ben Averkamp and Jordan Hicks each had 10 points and nine rebounds for Loyola.
