Ela Library to celebrate 40th anniversary in February
Ela Area Public Library employees will celebrate the library’s 40th anniversary in February with a series of programs.
Dubbed “The Heart and Soul of Your Community,” the celebration will include a scavenger hunt and anniversary party with free Culver’s sundaes, crafts, special character appearances, face painting, music and other activities.
A scavenger hunt for 1972 trivia will run Feb. 3-29. Search for the letter clues in the children’s and popular materials departments and decode the trivia answer of the week.
There will be a new puzzle each Friday, with prizes for raffle winners. Participation is open to everyone.
A dance party is planned for Feb. 1 from 1 to 4 p.m. Kids can come dressed ’70s style for prizes. Face painting, a photo booth, music and other activities are planned.
Everyone can attend; registration isn’t required.
A retro craft program is planned for 2 p.m. Feb. 18. Anyone ages 11 or older can participate. Registration is required.
A program called “Fabulous Fashions from the ’70s” is set for 7 p.m. Feb. 21. Registration is required.
“Art of the 1970s” is planned for 7 p.m. Feb. 27. Jeff Mishur of Art Excursions will present a slide lecture exploring pop art, feminism and other cultural highlights. Registration is required.
A program called “1972 Historic Cooking” is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Feb. 29. Take a trip down memory lane with recipes and tastings of fondue, hot Dr. Pepper served in a crock pot and other dishes. Registration is required.
