Judge refuses to lower bond in filmed beating case

A Cook County judge has refused to lower the $100,000 bond on one of the teenagers charged with beating and robbing a 17-year-old high school student in an attack that was videotaped and posted online.

An attorney for 17-year-old Raymond Palomino of Chicago asked for the reduction during a hearing Monday that Judge Sandra Ramos.

Seven teens are charged. Palomino is the only one charged as an adult. He’s been in custody since he was turned in by his father, a Cook County sheriff’s deputy.

Palomino is charged with felony robbery and aggravated robbery. Authorities allege that on Jan. 15 he and the other boys suspected in the attacks persuaded a 15-year-old girl who is also charged to lure the victim into an alley, where they beat and kicked him.
