Suspect in shooting at Chicago Walgreens is dead

Authorities say the suspect in a fatal shooting at a downtown Chicago Walgreens is dead.

Police in the northern Chicago suburb of Evanston say the body of 33-year-old Donte Simmons has been found in an alley there.

Authorities say it appears that Simmons died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Simmons was wanted for questioning in Friday’s shooting of a 22-year-old security guard at a Walgreens in the River North neighborhood.

A shooter walked into the store just before 10 p.m. and opened fire, killing Troy Cameron.

Simmons was also a suspect in another Friday shooting on Chicago’s North Side not far from where his body was found. No details about the victim in that shooting have been released.

A gun was recovered near Simmons’ body.
