Lake Villa library celebrates 60th anniversary

Lake Villa District Library celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2012, marking a long journey from the Cedar Avenue storefront.

A yearlong celebration of activities and interesting events is planned, as well as challenges to increase the library acumen of patrons.

The first of two challenges is under way and patrons are invited to visit the library 60 separate times before June 30.

Pick up a “TimeTracker” to record your visits at any public desk. Use the visits to explore the library and its services to the full extent. Hint: The information you gather might be useful for the second challenge.

Be sure to friend LVDL on Facebook. And look for the library’s new blog, 60 Beats, on the website in January.

Library officials say they hope patrons enjoy the anniversary celebration and have fun with the challenge.

The Lake Villa District Library is at 1001 E. Grand Ave. in Lake Villa.
