Fire brings back veteran Pardo

The Chicago Fire has re-signed veteran midfielder Pavel Pardo for the 2012 season.

Pardo, who joined the Chicago Fire last July, appeared in 14 competitive matches last season, tallying 1 goal and 5 assists while helping the club with a 7-2-1 finishing kick to the 2011 season.

“Pavel helped kick-start our turnaround at the end of last season,” said Fire head coach Frank Klopas. “He provides tremendous experience for us in the middle of the park, serves as a great example for our younger players and plays for the badge every time he steps on the field.”

Pardo began his career with hometown Mexican Primera side Club Atlas, where he appeared in 156 matches and recorded seven goals from 1993-98. Pardo is the second-most capped player in Mexican National Team history, with 148 appearances for el Tricolor.
