Get a look at the new Chicago Fire jersey

As expected, Chicago-based Quaker Oats Co. is the Chicago Fire’s new shirt sponsor.

The Fire, which went through 2011 without a corporate logo on its jersey after Best Buy did not renew its three-year contract, had been in talks with Quaker for months.

While some reports say Quaker will pay the Fire between $1.3 million and $1.5 million a season, the deal is believed to be close to the $2.5 million that Best Buy paid, sources told the Daily Herald.

“It’s an honor to partner with a trusted Chicago-based brand like Quaker Oats that shares the same sense of community as the Chicago Fire,” said Fire owner Andrew Hauptman.

Throughout the partnership, Quaker and the Chicago Fire will team up to reach thousands of families, on-and-off-the-field and demonstrate the importance of eating right and staying fit. As part of this shared commitment, Quaker will provide the Chicago Fire players with breakfasts and snacks to help them fuel their performance throughout the season.

In addition to the redesign of the Chicago Fire jerseys, Quaker and the Fire will unveil a variety of activities as the season gets under way. One key partnership highlight includes being the title sponsor of the Chicago Fire Juniors. In addition, Toyota Park will now feature the “Quaker Corner,” a seating section dedicated Fire supporters, where they can show their passion and love for the game.

The Fire was one of the few teams in MLS without a shirt sponsor last year.
