Teen struck, killed by Lake Forest train

A 15-year-old was killed this morning when he was struck by a Metra trains near Lake Forest, police officials confirmed.

Train Number 314 on the Union Pacific North Metra Line struck the pedestrian near Deerpath Road at 6:56 a.m., said Lake Forest Deputy Police Chief Glenn Burmeister.

He said all trains were halted following the accident for about 45 minutes.

The teen was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where he died because of his injuries.
