St. Charles man dies of gunshot in Elburn
A 71-year-old St. Charles man died of a gunshot wound he received outside an Elburn business, authorities said.
Elburn police said they responded to a report of “shots fired” at 6:42 p.m. Friday night. They found John H. Heinz of the 3N300 block of Limberi Lane lying along the far south fence property line of Precision Stone, 825 E. North St. Another business listed at that address is John Heinz Inc. Landscape Signs.
Heinz was transported to Delnor Hospital in Geneva, where he was pronounced dead at 7:30 p.m., authorities said.
The investigation into the cause of death is continuing by Elburn police and the Kane County coroner, but police said they don't believe the public is in danger.
