Highland Park teen sexually assaulted in Chicago

An 18-year-old Highland Park woman remains hospitalized after being attacked on New Year’s Eve in Chicago, police officials said.

Chicago Police Officer Robert Perez said the young woman was sexually assaulted and beaten Saturday night after she attempted to attend a concert at the Congress Theatre.

She was denied access to the concert because she didn’t have identification, Perez said. She was found unconscious about 9:30 p.m. in the 2100 block of North Rockwell Avenue.

The victim remains in critical condition at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, Perez said.

He said three juveniles were brought in for questioning by police Sunday, but have since been released by police. He said the investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to call Chicago Police at (312) 746-8252.
