Grading the Bears: Week 17

Game ball

Charles Tillman capped off a week that began with a Pro Bowl selection by scoring the decisive touchdown on an interception return. Can it get any better? The interception was the 30th of Tillman's career.

Offense

Quarterback 2.5 balls

For a guy who was under siege all game, Josh McCown wasn't too bad. His 28-yard scramble on third-and-9 keyed the first scoring drive, which ended with a TD pass to Roy Williams. McCown finished with 1 TD, I INT and a QB rating of 75.4.

Running back 2 balls

Kahlil Bell again showed flashes of brilliance but also showed a propensity to fumble. Which he did. Which led to a Vikings touchdown. That can't happen.

Receivers 2 balls

Suddenly, Williams is the man. Too bad it's too little, too late. He had 4 catches for 60 yards, including a 22-yard TD. Earl Bennett fumbled on the opening drive, setting up a Minnesota field goal.

Offensive line 1 ball

The one ball is for allowing McCown to leave the Metrodome in one piece. He did, but barely. Next time a good plan might be to try to block Jared Allen.

Defense

Defensive line 2 balls

For one game at least the most noticeable guy on the line wasn't Julius Peppers. It was Israel Idonije, who finished with a sack and a pair of tackles for loss.

Linebackers 2 balls

Brian Urlacher had 3 tackles for losses and led the defense with 10 tackles before injuring his knee late in the game.

Defensive backs 3 balls

The Vikings couldn't get much of a passing attack going against this group. Major Wright finished with 9 tackles and Charles Tillman added a pick-6 to go along with 6 tackles.

Special teams 3.5 balls

Does anyone need this season to end more than Devin Hester? Anyone have any idea what he's doing out there? On a positive note, Peppers blocked a field goal, Robbie Gould was 1-for-1, and Adam Podlesh was terrific again.

Coaching 2 balls

8-8. Enough said.
