Man charged with killing 2 at Chicago restaurant

CHICAGO — A 23-year-old man faces murder and attempted murder charges in a shooting at a Chicago fast-food restaurant that killed two people.

Cook County prosecutors say Arthur Chaney is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and five counts of attempted murder.

Chaney is charged in the deaths of 16-year-old Jawan Ross and 17-year-old Dantril Brown. Five others were injured.

Authorities believe two people got into a fight outside a Church’s Chicken restaurant in Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood Tuesday night. The fight reportedly escalated when one of the people chased the other into the restaurant and opened fire.

Chaney is in custody pending a Saturday bond hearing.

A message left at Chaney’s residence wasn’t immediately returned.
