Mays lifts Wright State past Loyola, 64-48

Julius Mays scored 23 points and Wright State continued its dominance over Loyola-Chicago, beating the Ramblers 64-48 on Thursday night.

The Raiders (7-8, 2-1 Horizon League) have won 10 of the last 11 meetings between the two schools.

Walt Gibler had 12 points and Christian Thomas 11 for Loyola (5-8, 0-3), which committed 21 turnovers and had its four-game winning streak snapped.

Wright State closed the first half on a 16-7 run to go on top 28-18, then opened the second half with a 13-2 burst that put the game away for good. Mays had seven points during the second-half spurt, capping it with a 3-pointer that put the Raiders ahead 41-20 with 16:25 remaining.

Wright State was 10 of 25 on 3-point attempts, including back-to-back 3s from Vance Hall and John Balwigaire that gave the Raiders their biggest lead, 49-22, with 11:30 left.
