Dayton beats Illinois-Chicago 64-57

DAYTON, Ohio — Josh Benson scored 13 points and helped lead a 17-0 run to give Dayton a 64-57 win over Illinois-Chicago on Friday night.

Dayton (9-4) trailed 32-24 with 1:31 to go until halftime and scored 17 straight stretching into the second half.

Devin Oliver started the run with a 3-pointer, and after grabbing an offensive rebound he put back a dunk with 36 seconds left in the half to pull the Flyers within three, 32-29.

Dayton opened the second half with nine straight points to go up 41-32 and didn’t trail the rest of the way. Benson scored six points during that spurt.

Kevin Dillard chipped in 11 points for the Flyers, who got back on the winning track after falling to Seton Hall on Wednesday. Dayton has won four of its last five.

Daniel Barnes led the Flames (4-8) with 17 points.
