Woman run over by own car near Arlington Heights church

A Palatine woman was hospitalized after she was run over by her own car, which had been stuck on a curb outside an Arlington Heights church Sunday morning, according to police.

The front tires of the 85-year-old woman’s vehicle were stuck over a curb at St. James Catholic Church, 820 N. Arlington Heights Road, at around 9:45 a.m., police said.

The woman left the car running in reverse while someone tried to help push the car over the curb, but it would not budge.

She then got out of the car to take a look, and when she got out, the car rolled over the curb and ran the woman over, said Arlington Heights Police Sgt. Stephanie Mack.

The woman was taken to Northwest Community Hospital with an injury to her foot, police said.

The vehicle was stopped before it hit any other vehicles.
