Woodlands Academy’s Winter Wonderwalk set for Dec. 7

For more than 15 years, Lake Forest residences — bejeweled for the holidays — have welcomed Winter Wonderwalk guests of Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart.

Winter Wonderwalk homes have been among the most historically and architecturally significant properties in the Lake Forest community.

Dining rooms are set for holiday feasts and roaring fireplaces invite cozy lingering. Knowledgeable docents in each room point out architectural details and decorative features.

Mark your calendars for Wednesday, Dec. 7, when Winter Wonderwalk again presents four residences: an authentic Tudor Revival designed by Russell S. Walcott; a classic English country home designed by Harrie T. Lindeberg; a Neo-Georgian designed by Howard Van Doren Shaw; and a French Provincial residence built in 2000.

Admission is $60 per person, which includes admission to the Gala Party, Homes, Boutique, and Idea House.

The Holiday Boutique on Woodlands’ campus opens from 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, and reopens Tuesday night for a Gala Party from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Admission is $10.

The Boutique opens again at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, allowing shoppers time to browse the unique gifts and decorative items offered by more than 40 select vendors. The Boutique closes at 3 p.m. Dec. 7.

Housewalk Tours begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, and run through 3 p.m. Ticket pickup for the tours begins at 9 a.m. Dec. 7 at Woodlands Academy.

One Wonderwalk home each year is the site of The Idea House, brimming with decorating, gifting and entertaining ideas.

The Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart Mothers Club sponsors this annual event to benefit the school’s scholarship fund. For information, contact Tami Rocha, event coordinator, at (847) 234-4300, ext. 226, or visit woodlandsacademy.org.
