Saturday’s college basketball games
Fordham (1-1) at Loyola (0-4)
When: 3 p.m. at Gentile Arena
The skinny: This game marks the grand reopening of a renovated Gentile Arena. The building now includes 1,600 chair back seats, an overhead scoreboard with video, along with improved lightning, sound, locker rooms and concession stands. While construction was being completed, the Ramblers went 0-4 on the road but were competitive in each contest. Loyola has four players averaging in double figures, led by Ben Averkamp and Walt Gibler at 11.0 points.
UIC (2-2) at Toledo (3-1)
When: 6 p.m. at Savage Arena
Radio: WMVP 1000-AM
The skinny: UIC recorded a 79-75 home win over Evansville on Wednesday. Freshman guard Marc Brown scored 24 points and went 5-for-5 from 3-point range, while 6-8 sophomore Hayden Humes, a transfer from Toledo, added 18 points. UIC beat the Rockets twice last season and is 5-0 in the all-time series.
Northern Illinois (0-4) at Boise State (3-1)
When: 8 p.m. at Taco Bell Arena
The skinny: NIU has been suffering through growing pains with young players. Freshmen have played 57.1 percent of the minutes this season. As a team, the Huskies are shooting 32.9 percent from the field overall and 23.6 percent from 3-point range. These teams met in DeKalb last season with Boise State winning 80-51.
