Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals hits the suburbs

November may mark the sad end of cruising season for us here in the Midwest, but that doesn't mean all those classic and custom machines have been put away for good.

A great spot to catch these gleaming, rolling dreams was at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals show held last weekend at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont. This year's show featured more than 500 cars and had entrants coming in from seventeen states and Canada.

While strolling the aisles among the plethora of unique muscle cars, dealer-built supercars and Corvettes, we came across this tantalizing Planet Green with Lime Gold candy 1970 Pontiac GTO Judge, nicknamed “Irish Eyes.”

St. Charles resident Kevin Callahan owns this once daily-driven beater and employed the crew at Hot Rod Auto in Schiller Park to transform the drop-top Goat into the eye-catching showstopper it is today.

It packs a 455-cubic-inch V-8, 2005 GTO bucket seats and BMW headlights.

Winter may just be starting but with all the hot, vintage iron at the event, we're already counting down the days until the red mercury rises and these street beasts hit the roads again.

More than 500 automobiles, representing 17 states and Canada, were on display during the show.
