Wednesday’s college basketball games

Loyola (0-2) at Eastern Illinois (0-1)

When: 7 p.m. at Lantz Arena

The skinny: Loyola hasn’t started 0-3 since the 1921-22 season, but that streak is in danger as the Ramblers open with their third straight road game. The renovation of Gentile Arena is expected to be complete in time for the Nov. 26 home opener. Loyola lost at Kansas State 74-61 on Monday despite 19 points from junior forward Ben Avercamp. Eastern Illinois is led by senior guard Jeremy Granger (Elgin H.S.), who scored 26 points in a 79-72 loss at Indiana State.

Roosevelt (0-2) at UIC (0-1)

When: 7 p.m. at UIC Pavilion

Radio: WMVP 1000-AM

The skinny: The Flames got a nice performance from 6-7 senior Paris Carter (19 points, 11 rebounds), but they faded down the stretch of a season-opening 68-57 loss at Eastern Michigan last Friday. Roosevelt is in its second year as an NAIA program. The Lakers’ first- and third-leading scorers are brothers Paul and Mark Tometich, who attended Cary-Grove High School.
