Campton Hills leaders Thursday will host their fourth meeting this year to get opinions from residents on the village’s long-term comprehensive plan and the Wasco Town Center.
The meeting will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Wasco Elementary School, 4N782 School Street.
Previous meetings focused on community values, key issues and opportunities, and a review of village principles.
Village Trustee Jim Kopec was at two previous meetings and hopes residents come out this week.
“There are a lot of ideas floating around,” he said, noting that many of the concepts presented must be reviewed and depend on landowners and developers to move forward, if at all. “What we’re trying to do is make sure we don’t have piecemeal development going on that will stop other ideas from being considered.”
Jason Navota, a senior planner at the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning, which is working with the village, said four land use plans will be presented and residents will be asked to provide feedback.
“It’s a mix, each one is pretty different, pretty diverse,” Navota said, adding that officials were pleased with the turnout for meetings in September and October. “This is an opportunity for them to give their opinion.”
Also, officials from the Evanston-based Teska Associates will present ideas for the Wasco Town Center.
Navota said planners will take all the information and write up a draft that people will be able to comment on in the spring of 2012 before village leaders adopt it.
