HBO's WWII series now on DVD
“Band of Brothers”/“The Pacific” Special Edition Gift Set
Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg and HBO presented these two outstanding series that brought events of World War II to life. “Band of Brothers” recounted the achievments of members of Easy Company, who parachuted into France on D-Day. The great series won six Emmys.
“The Pacific” shows the real-life journeys of three U.S. Marines — Robert Leckie, Eugene Sledge and John Basilone — across the Pacific. The well-written and well-acted series won eight Emmys. The 13-disc gift set is available on DVD and Blu-ray. The special features include commentary, documentaries, video diaries, interactive field guide, archival footage and more.
“The King of Kool: Best of Dean Martin Variety Show”
Dean Martin hosted his hit variety show for 10 years. Fans of the show knew that Dean never rehearsed, and he read his lines off of cue cards. Thus, you never knew what would happen. The six-disc set includes many comedians and musical guests. It contains 18 episodes with lots of sketches and more than 100 musical numbers. Some of the guests were Sid Caesar, Mickey Rooney, Bill Cosby, Bob Newhart, Jackie Mason, Liberace, Ella Fitzgerald, The Supremes and more.
“Il Divo: Live at the Greek”
The four singers that comprise “Il Divo” are Carlos Marin, David Miller, Urs Buhler and Sebastien Izambard. They blend their beautiful voices together and sing all type of songs. The group has sold millions of records, and will be appearing at the Rosemont Theatre in August. This concert featured “Mama,” “Somewhere,” “All By Myself,” “Nella Fantasia,” “My Way,” “Unbreak My Heart” and many more songs.
“6 Ed Sullivan Shows starring The Rolling Stones”
Just like the Beatles before them, the Rolling Stones appeared on “The Ed Sullivan Show” multiple times. The complete shows are on DVD, and you see the other acts as well. It is great to relive the times with these shows, and see the Rolling Stones perform “Satisfaction” and other hits.
