Adventure race in Antioch

The village of Antioch and NorthBridge Church will host the fourth annual Antioch Adventure Race Saturday, Oct. 8, to kick off Fall Fest.

The adventure race kicks off a day of games, music and fun in Antioch.

Cost is $10 per team and each team must have a minimum of two people. There will be two divisions, the Pro division (all members ages 16 and up) and the Family division (1 member aged 15 and under).

Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three teams in each division. Preregistration is encouraged.

All participants are asked to be at the band shell at 9 a.m. Saturday for check-in and a rules briefing at 9:30 a.m.

The race starts at 10 a.m. and each team will compete against the clock to complete as many challenges as possible in the allotted time frame. Challenges will be in various locations around town and differ at each location. Challenges will be mental, physical or both.

Previous challenges have included Frisbee golf, field goal kicking, balance challenge, blow gun challenge, digestive challenge, water transfer and trivia questions. Once the allotted time is up all groups will return to the band shell where each group’s points will be totaled to determine the top three teams.

The three teams in each division will compete in final event held around the band shell area to determine the 2011 Antioch Adventure Race champions.

Those interested in participating should call the Antioch Parks and Recreation Department special events line, (847) 395-4032 or Northbridge Church, (847) 838-0800. There are a limited number of teams so this event will be a first-come, first-served basis.
