Ind. seeks to revoke living center's license

SOUTH BEND, Ind.— Indiana health officials are seeking to revoke the license of a South Bend assisted living center accused of endangering its residents by failing to meet state standards.

The South Bend Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/nmOHTZ ) that state inspectors who visited Inwood Hills Estates recently reported more than a dozen violations, four of which involved a male resident who later died in his room.

The center's owner, Wisconsin-based Assisted Living Concepts Inc., said it's brought in new leadership and addressed the state's allegations.

The state health department alleges, among other things, that Inwood Hills is housing residents too disabled for an assisted living home.

State inspectors say a male resident at the center who died in April 2010 should have been discharged because he was not medically stable and needed constant supervision.
