Lambeau Field landlord approves expansion

GREEN BAY, Wis. — The board that oversees Lambeau Field has approved the team’s expansion plans at the Green Bay Packers’ stadium.

The field’s landlord, the Green Bay/Brown County Professional Football Stadium District board, heard details of the $143 million project at a meeting Wednesday. The expansion will remove more people from the season ticket waiting list than previously stated. The project will add nearly 7,000 seats to the stadium.

Packers vice president Jason Wied told the board that besides seats in a new south end zone structure, the team may add seats in other areas that are now taken up by sponsors.

The Packers plan to pay for the project with borrowing and a possible stock sale. WLUK-TV says the stock sale could be approved by the NFL at a meeting next month.
