Former East Aurora teacher charged with sexual exploitation

A 32-year-old West Dundee woman who formerly taught at East Aurora High School was charged with sexual exploitation of a child and turned herself in to Aurora police.

Kelly K. Miller of the 2700 block of Oak Drive bonded out on the misdemeanor charge Tuesday night.

She resigned her teaching post last week.

Police said Miller included two inappropriate photos of herself during texts with one of her 15-year-old male students in late May or June. Police said they received a tip about Miller’s behavior on Sept. 19 and immediately began investigating.

The charge was filed late Tuesday, police said, and Miller posted 10 percent of her $10,000 bond that night.

Police spokesman Dan Ferrelli said investigators do not believe any other students were involved. He said authorities at this time do not believe there was a sexual relationship between the teacher and student.

Miller’s next court date is at 9 a.m. Nov. 18 in Aurora Branch Court, 1200 E. Indian Trail.
